The World’s Most Expensive Bottle of Red Wine

Dubai is known for taking everything to the extreme. Home to the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, as well as an endless amount of other luxuries, it’s no surprise that the city is also the origin of the world’s most expensive retail bottle of red wine.

The wine pictured above is a Chateau Margaux 2009 that first went on sale at Le Clos’ flagship store at the Dubai International Airport in 2013. The limited edition bottle was priced at a mere… $195,000.

Sound like a lot? Well, keep in mind that these are Balthazars, which hold 12 full liters of wine. A standard bottle contains 750 ml, so you are really getting 16 for the price of 1… at a cost of just over $12,000 per bottle.

If you’re still not sure that’s the best investment for your hard-earned cash, for the same amount of money, you could buy over 75,000 bottles of vino at most Trader Joe’s. Now, that would be money well spent.
