This Police Officer Saved a Boy from Drowning! You Would Never Believe What He Did When He Met Him 19 Years Later…WOW!

Officer James Poole was about to give and interview for a local media in the Columbus Police Academy when something unbelievable happened. Officer Poole, 43 years old, over 20 years serves as an example of dedicated and close to the community law enforcer. As such he believed that this was the reason for a local media to schedule an interview with him. He prepared himself with a notes and sat on a couch located in the lobby of the Academy – just before the start Christopher Jones walked inside and tapped the officer on his shoulder.

“Do you remember me?” Jones asked Poole.

Poole shook Jones’ hand and looked at him with a smile, but didn’t recognize the face of the young man. Jones quickly continued.

“Back in 1997, you pulled a 5-year-old out of a swimming pool, saved his life,” Jones added.

The realization stunned Poole, who stood up and wrapped his arms around Jones, now a 24-year-old man who nearly drowned those many years ago.

“I never thought that something I would do 19, 20 years later would come back, and somebody would thank me,” Poole said.

It was the summer of 1997 when the young officer pulled the kid from the bottom of a swimming pool. Jones doesn’t remember all the details, but he knows that his heart had stopped, and he was told that he’d been underwater for 15 or 20 minutes.

Both men had tears in their eyes as they remembered that day and all what happened 20 years back. Together with Jones was his 5 year old daughter, same age as her father when the event happened.

“Because of you, I’m still here,” Jones said to Poole. “Because of you, this 5-year-old little girl right here is here.”

“Law enforcement is definitely a rewarding job,” Poole answered. “You are a perfect example of the reward that we get out of it.”
